This week we are very lucky to have the life education truck with their mascot Harold the giraffe at our school. Our class, room 1, had our first visit today. We learnt about making choices that influence our decisions and we also learnt about peer pressure and strategies to deal with these situations. We played a great game about making choices and the outcomes that happen and things that can affect our decisions.
Tomorrow we will be learning about our bodies and how they work, and also about looking after ourselves inside and out. I look forward to hearing another one of Harold's fabulous jokes! Harold will be at our school for 1 week, all of the classes are very excited! The life education trust is sponsored by many local and national businesses. The truck comes to our school every year.
Here is a photo of me and the life education truck, below is what it looks like.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading about the Life Education Truck and am curious about how choices influence decisions. What kinds of activities did you do to explore this topic. What did you realize about making decisions that you didn't know before? Does the truck travel to all schools?
Hello Heidi, thank you for checking out my blog! we played a game where we had to choose personally where out of three places we would like to go for example Paris, Australia and Los Angels each time we got clues that may alter our decisions and some of us went with our friends which shows an example of peer pressure I realized that sometimes making decisions can be the smallest things like what I should have for breakfast! I think the life education truck travels to most schools in my region but I don't know about nation- wide thank you please feel free to have a look at my upcoming posts! Ok, I am intrigued. Is Harold a real giraffe? If so, how does he tell jokes?

Your comment made me laugh! Harold is not real sorry I wish he was, but for the consideration of our junior school we treat him as real. he is a puppet that pops out of a hole in the truck. He tells jokes by "whispering" his jokes to our teacher. Thank you for making me laugh feel free to check out my new posts anytime Emily, Room1, Auroa School, Taranaki, New Zealand
